Ardi Rizal, a two-year-old from a South Sumatran fishing village who gained international incredulity when someone posted a video of him smoking 40 cigarettes a day on YouTube, has apparently kicked his addiction to smoking, reports The Jakarta Globe. Seto Mulyadi, advisory chairman of the National Commission for Child Protection (or otherwise known as Kak Seto on TV and to children all over Indonesia), said that the toddler had recovered following a month-long rehabilitation program involving the Commission, doctors, and psychologists.

Three months ago, Ardi had been reported to have cut back on cigarettes, from 40 to 15 a day. Apparently, having a playmate as well as simple toys largely contributed to his rehabilitation. The therapists also encouraged Ardi to associate cigarettes with bad things, including by telling him that smoking would hamper his popstar dreams.

There’s hope for all of us!
