By now you must be wondering how being vegetarian can save the Earth you live in. Saving electricity and stop damaging the forest, yes, maybe. But being vegetarian? Even I couldn’t have imagined it.

However, did you know that meat eating is a major cause of global warming? According to Dr. Henning Steinfeld, Chief of Livestock Information and Policy Branch from the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization, factory farms are:

  1. The main driver of deforestation, as forests are cut down to make way for factories
  2. The largest single source of water pollution
  3. Emitting potent greenhouse gas emissions. Livestock produces more greenhouse gases than all worldwide transportation combined!

Shocked? So am I!

Enough talking about the world, here’s what you can gain from a vegetarian diet!

Costs of Meat Eating Benefits of Vegetarian Diet
Heart disease A lower risk of contracting heart disease (by as much as 50%!)
Cancer Higher IQ (and higher GPAs!)
Diabetes (no more sweets!) Stronger immune system
Obesity Prevents stroke
Environmental damage Increases life expectancy by up to 15 years

But what if you don’t like vegetables and fruits? We have just the solution: Loving Hut!

At first glance, and even first bite, I didn’t even know that Loving Hut is a vegetarian restaurant. The taste of the food is unique, and taste is similar to meat. What’s even more surprising is that Loving Hut is, in fact, a vegan restaurant, serving completely plant-based food: no animal ingredients! After chatting with owner Mr. Stone, the secret is actually inside the sauce!

“What makes food delicious is how you combine the sauce,” he said.

Loving Hut has numerous branches and all are as delicious. I tried the satay whereas my friend tried the Nonya Mee Siam; both are heavenly delicious! If you prefer buffets, Loving Hut’s Bukit Merah branch provides that every Thursday and Saturday. It’s very near to PSB Academy, too!

Tempted? Let’s go vegan in a delicious way!
